What Is a JSON Formatter?

Understand how JSON formatting works and use a browser-based formatter to validate structured data.

Published October 18, 2026

JSON is structured text

JSON represents data using objects, arrays, strings, numbers, booleans and null. A missing comma or unmatched quote can make an otherwise useful document invalid.

Formatting improves readability

A formatter parses JSON and writes it back with consistent indentation. If parsing fails, the input is not valid JSON and should be corrected before it is used by an application.

Keep sensitive data safe

QuickQR’s JSON formatter runs in the browser. Even so, avoid pasting secrets into any website unless you understand the environment and have permission to do so.
